Creative Lives After School Program is seeking a Kitchen Manager/Chef

The Creative Lives After School Program (CLASP) at White River School has an immediate opening for a Kitchen Manager/Chef.  Our program runs until 5:30pm on full school days.  Each day we provide a healthy snack with organic and local ingredients whenever possible.  With our holistic approach to teaching and child development, CLASP values the impact of nutritious food and the sense of connection to physical health and community that can come with it!

We are seeking an applicant with certification in the state of Vermont’s Child and Adult Food Care Program (CACFP), or the agreement to pursue certification upon hire.  The CACFP program provides training and programmatic support on food safety, nutrition, and food preparation for the purposes of facilitating the provision of healthy food to low-income populations.  Preparing, serving, and documenting CLASP’s food program in accordance with CACFP requirements benefits our students with nutrition information that can serve them well into their development, and benefits our program with reimbursement for costs.

Minimum qualifications include experience with food preparation and industrial cooking and cleaning equipment.  Knowledge of local food networks and ecological impact of organic food systems, and experience with children preferred.

The position is 17 hours per week on average including weekly shopping and paperwork, and daily food preparation and cleanup (1:45pm-4:45pm).  Pay range $15-$17/hour depending on experience.
