Creative Lives After School Program at White River School is seeking a Lead Teacher and Program Administrator.

Lead teachers guide daily activities and participate in comprehensive curriculum planning at the afterschool program.  They are responsible fortraining in and implementing strategies and principles from A Framework for WiseEducation by Ellen Tadd.  This includesdaily, personal practices for strengthening teaching capacity in each of theseven framework categories well as building a program that strengthens each ofthe Framework categories for students as individuals and in groups.

The LeadTeacher/Program Administrator will be required to participate in assessingstudents based on the Framework and creating growth plans for students inconjunction with the CLASP team, parents and teachers.

The LeadTeacher/Program Administrator will help prepare the space for students, teachenrichment courses, lead discovery activities, and participate with the team inplanning and implementing program content and curricula.  The Lead Teacher/Program Administrator willoffer one-on-one mentoring to children in the program.  Staff will be required to supervise snackperiods, free-play periods, participate in field trips and other offer-siteactivities, and attend community events at the school.

Each dayincludes outdoor or indoor free play and electives/guided discovery time.Electives have included:  music lessons,cooking classes, gardening, creative science, theater, drawing, art,skit-writing, dance, history, clothing design, meditation and life skills,community adventures. 

This positionincludes Program Administration of a licensed child care program.  Program Administration requires maintaining apositive, collaborative relationship with school-day staff and administrators;and supervision of program implementation, including meeting all stateregulations, managing the budget, and guiding less experienced staff. 

 

Qualifications:

A bachelor’sdegree or equivalent education towards a teaching certificate is required.  

Applicants musthave experience with contemplative practice as well as skills in some of thefollowing areas: creative music, dance, theater, improvisation, visual arts,sustainable gardening, place-based education, health and nutrition, science,reading, math or environmental education.

Demonstratedability to work responsibly, creatively, and collaboratively with the teachingteam, parents, school day staff, and children in the program.

Experiencewith development and delivery of educational programs, preferably in anafterschool setting.

Familiaritywith state systems including Bright Futures, STARS, and CCFAP is a plus. 

 

All first-time employees must complete a trial period toassess their fit with the Creative lives Afterschool Program, philosophy, andteam.  Position is roughly 25 hours/week.  Pay dependent on experience and skills.
