 VA Medical Center – Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome you to join our friendly force of volunteers who are engaged in a wide variety of services for hospitalized Veterans and Veterans receiving outpatient care.  Below are a few of the opportunities we have available:

Volunteer Drivers needed to transport patients from a designated pickup location to the facility by way of DAV vans stationed in the community.  Potential drivers must meet safety and health requirements.

DAV Travel Office Assistant – busy office dispatching volunteer drivers and fielding telephone calls.  Must have Microsoft Office experience including Access and Excel databases.  Shifts available Mon-Fri 8a-12 or 12n-4p, incumbent must commit to a weekly shift for a minimum of 6 months.

Parking Lot Shuttle Drivers –  provide rides to patients/visitors on campus Wed 8a-12n, Thu 12n-4p, Fri 8a-12n or 12n-4p

Information Desk – provide assistance and direction at the desk in the Outpatient building, shift available Wed, Thu 8a-12n or Fri 12n-4p

Volunteer Escorts – Deliver people and items throughout the WRJ facility Mon, Wed 8a-12n.   Burlington Lakeside Clinic providing wheelchair assistance in & out of the parking lot any week day.

Clinic Aide – Audiology departments at White River, Burlington and Brattleboro clinics, one person once a week to assist with incoming hearing aid packages, replenishing clinic stock, sending out follow up questionnaires

Ambassador – greet visitors and provide direction at the entrance of building 39 or throughout, shift available every day 12n-4p

File Clerk – collate and file documents any weekday morning in Occupational Health

Office Clerk – in Veterans Transportation Service, answering phone, take messages, patient callbacks, filing, photocopying and mail delivery.  Availability every day

Recreation Room – art volunteer and/or someone to share a skill/hobby for Mon, Thurs or Fri 9a-1p

Prosthetics Assistant- Busy office receiving/mailing stock, stock issues, faxing/filing/ fielding telephone calls. Must have computer experience. Shifts available Monday-Friday 8-4:30, incumbent must commit to weekly shift for minimum of 6 months.

Keyboard player – Chaplain Service looking for experienced keyboardist every Thursday 3-3:30pm
