 VA Medical Center Volunteer Opportunities

We welcome you to join our friendly force of volunteers who are engaged in a wide variety of services for hospitalized Veterans and Veterans receiving outpatient care.  Opportunities include:

Volunteer Drivers needed to transport patients from a designated pickup location to the facility by way of DAV vans stationed in the community.  Potential drivers must meet safety and health requirements.

Parking Lot Shuttle Drivers –  Mon/Tue or Fri 12N-4P

Volunteer Escorts – Deliver people and items throughout the WRJ facility on Wed/Fri 12n-4p

Information Desk – provide direction and navigation support to patients and visitors, available Mon/Tue/Thu 8a-12n or 12n-4p

Clerical  –

*   Telephone Support Clerk – assist the Transportation Service Office with answering phones, taking phone messages and relaying information to Transportation staff, position available 9a-1p any day except Monday

*   Telephone Support Clerk – assist with telephone calls to other medical facilities to obtain medical records for the Office of Community Care

*   Data entry in Excel spreadsheet for Business Office, available weekdays with flexible hours and a 6 month commitment

*   General Clerical Aide – may assist with filing, copying, mailings, patient and lab transport

*   Radiology, flexible hours and any day except Wednesday

*   Eye Clinic, Tuesdays

*   Occupational Health, flexible hours and days

Ambassador – greet visitors and provide direction at the entrance of building 39 or throughout, shifts available Mon/Wed/Fri 8:00-12:00 or 12:00-4:00

Welcome Center Greeter: Provide directions and information to Veterans and visitors to include telephone support, available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, 8:00-12:00 or 12:00-4:00

Fitness Center Attendant:  open center for assigned hours on Saturday and/or Sundays for properly trained users.  Examine machines for proper use, verify users have signed in, maintain supplies and close center at end of shift.

Positions require a favorable background check, TB test and seasonal flu vaccination.
