Simon Pearce, a leader in the design and manufacture of hand blown glass and hand-made pottery is seeking an experienced Vice President of Technology to join our team in Windsor, VT. This position is the leader of the company’s IT team, with a dual role of being the company’s strategic thinker for all things technology related, and an action-oriented “player-manager” who can help execute on agreed upon objectives. This individual is a member of the corporate Senior Leadership Team, and is responsible for clarifying, prioritizing and budgeting strategic objectives related to technology, while providing the leadership necessary to achieve the goals of the organization. Technology leadership applies equally to the IT team, the broader organization, and contractors/vendors, to foster a consistent understanding related to technology. This person defines and communicates IT policies, procedures, and best practices, and spends approximately 50% of their time working alongside IT staff to complete the necessary work.

The VP of Technology manages a Director of Technology, who in turn runs the internal IT department operations. The IT department currently consists of six staff, including the Director. The staff are responsible for, among other things, internal customer service (help desk), network administration, technology security, business analytics, and software development for approximately 300 staff in over 15 locations. Major aspects of the company’s operations with significant technology needs include manufacturing, distribution, sales (retail, web, and wholesale), restaurant, and administration. We are a complex business, looking for someone who can lead, plan, prioritize and execute across business units.

What you bring to the Team:
10 years or more of network administration experience on networks with over 100 users
Bachelor’s Degree in IT and 15 years of relevant business experience
Keeps abreast of new technologies and identifies those that may benefit the company.
Understands and keeps abreast of current security concepts.
Proficient in Server 2003 / 2008, 2008 R2, Linux server administration
Knowledge of network topology, active directory, WAN concepts, Windows workstations, and Macs
Exposure to SQL and X++
Exposure to Node.js, and js
Experience with AWS
Ability to translate technical IT concepts into non-IT language
Experience with Microsoft Dynamics AX 2009 a plus
